Meet The Couple Behind The Whitlock - Fios1 (8/31/18)
How Is Social Media Changing the Restaurant Industry? - Westchester Magazine (7/31/18)
Once upon a time, when customers had a negative experience at a restaurant, they could either talk to the manager, vent to their friends, or vow privately to never return.
If chefs and owners wanted to let customers know about a new dish, special, or new hours, they bought ads in magazines and newspapers, ran radio spots, and hoped that information would be spread by word of mouth.
Wine & Food Festival Spotlight: Building a Better Burger - Westchester Magazine (5/30/18)
We all have our little grilling tricks: Cheese-on-the-bottom, smoking, a particular and closely guarded blend of seasoning. I personally mix fresh sage into ground lamb and top the sliders with a cherry-mustard pan sauce (I call it a “Cherry Lewis”). When it comes to the ultimate burger, however, you’ll be hard pressed to home-cook patties greater than those you’ll savor at this year’s Burger & Beer Blast (B&BB) on June 7.

When was the last time you went to a restaurant that didn’t have fries on the menu? From hand-cut, triple-fried, Belgian-style frites, to delicate shoestrings tossed with garlic, sea salt, and herbs, fries have permeated every corner of food culture — but that doesn’t mean chefs can’t get creative.

How to Spend a Perfect Saturday in Katonah - Westchester Magazine (8/31/18)
Simultaneously artsy, chic, and pastoral (you won’t find traffic lights anywhere in town), Katonah blends historic charm and stylish stores with major cultural institutions. One of three hamlets that constitute the town of Bedford, this small community has been home to famous residents throughout history, from John Jay to Martha Stewart. Spend a day touring, eating, and shopping to feel (at least a little bit) like one of them.

The Whitlock recently opened in the small and charming town of Katonah, in close proximity to the metro north stop. The decor is reminiscent of a modern farmhouse with traditional accents. The gallery of images on the back wall makes for a lovely backdrop while the black seats and dark floors make the space feel refined. Katonah has welcomed its newest eatery, The Whitlock to the neighborhood. The Whitlock is a wonderful addition to the area and seemingly has already been warmly accepted by locals and foodies who are filling the establishment each evening. The Whitlock takes its name from the first business in old Katonah which was a mill and a tavern owned by Whitlock and Wood. The village would grow up from these humble beginnings to create a community.

It’s no wonder that Katonah, with its repurposed Victorian-era-buildings housing charming family-owned shops (no chain stores in this town, thank you), reminds me of the town that time forgot. 9 Dishes We Really Loved in 2017 - Westchester Magazine (1/2018)
The Whitlock, Katonah
At this new neighborhood spot, Chef Matt Safarowic really excels at turning out perfectly cooked, juicy, cuts of meat. This pork chop with chopped vinegar peppers was easily among the most perfectly cooked (and properly seasoned) we’ve had, with just the right amount of bracing acidity.
Bistro Invasion in Chappaqua, Katonah & Pleasantville - What To Do (12/8/17)
We had our first Lobster Mac & Cheese in Katonah’s Willie Nick’s when they were the only upscale bistro around. Always a favorite of ours, we were sad to see them close but The Whitlock, who recently took over their space, is a worthy substitute that hits high notes beyond Willie Nicks and most area bistro cuisine for that matter.
